Tremiti Islands: San Nicola, the historical island
San Nicola bears the historical and cultural heritage of the civilisations which have characterised these islands.
The origins of the name are allegedly linked to a chapel built by a hermit.
There are many monuments to visit: the Torre dei Cavalieri del Crocifisso and the Torre del Pennello, the Cappella di Santa Maria delle Grazie and the church of Santa Maria a Mare.
In the village centre, at the bottom of corso Diomede, are the walls and the Torrione Angioino, from which you can enjoy the magical landscapes of the sea below.
